Who are they and what can they do for you?
Svanhvít Kristjánsdóttir and Einar Öder Magnússon come from families with age-old dependence and commitment to the horse as a friend and companion in the struggle for existence in an unforgiving environment.
Both are outstanding competition riders with top performances in Icelandic and international championships.
They are active in the lecture- and event circuit all over Europe and in America. Einar Öder has been engaged as team-leader and trainer for different national teams in connection with World Championships.
Both are superb trainers of competition horses, much used to fine-tune other top riders' mounts when they encounter problems or simply want the best preparation before important events.
Their bredding have produced such famous horses as the stallions Oddur, Tjótandi and Samuel, and mares lik Eyð, Glod and Oddrun.
Their intimate knowledge of the Icelandic horse and huge network of contacts in the "business" enables them to find the right horse for every rider. To find and pass on top horses is a small but no less important part of what is offered.
Halakot
Their new stable and training centre, just north of Selfoss in southern Iceland has been widely recognized for its unique architeectural merits and horse-friendly design. Mares, colts and young horses run free on the more than 3000 acres of grassland on the farms. Stallions get specialised care for their own security.
What... exactly?
Education
Einar and Svana train and educate at your club or your farm at a fixed daily rate, + expenses with a maximum of 10 equipages pr day.
Traning
If you have bought a horse in Iceland and want it trained and/or showed for assessment, you cannot find better partners in getting the best for the new member of your family.
Find the right horse
To buy an Icelandic horse is to many the first step in a lifelong commitment and they want to get it right the first time. Einar and Svana take pride in their ability to match man and horse to the best for both, regardless if you are an ambitious competition rider or want a reliable friend for long hikes in the wilderness of Sherwood forest.. .
Bredding
Due to the increasing popularity of the Icelandic horse, the endeavours raise top competition horses and to follow the latest trends have led to sheep-herd mentality amongst many renowned breeders. Bredding is in its nature a long-term commitment to what one believes in, paired with solid knowledge of bloodlines and a sense of tradition.
Góðhestar have always followed the age-old Icelandic principles for a good riding horse. Suppleness, willingness, clean gaits, form under rider, character, easy handling, strong and good humoured, in short the Gæðingur.
Each year a limited number (5-10) of these coveted horses are offered on the market to be exported or to stay on Iceland as bredding-mares or high prised stallions.
